If you use Microsoft Office Outlook on a regular basis, is likely to have worked with a PST file. The following information relates to identify and repair corrupt PST files.
PST stands for "Personal Storage Table", a file extension used by Microsoft products such as Microsoft Office Outlook. This type of file which stores the data information as email messages, tasks and calendar items from Microsoft Exchange mailboxes. These files are stored locally on the computer itself, but also can be delivered and stored on a server. Using default settings, Outlook email these files can be found in the following location: C: Documents and SettingsUSER Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook "user with the screen as Windows user name. The default file name of your current active mailbox is Outlook.pst. The file is usually called archive.pst.
The most common problem with files Outlook is that they become damaged or corrupted. Outlook email archiving repairs can be done easily and quickly. While there are others methods to repair the file Outlook mail, Microsoft Outlook often try to repair the file for you automatically. When this happens, a window appears informing you that Outlook is trying to repair an automatic PST file. Considering the circumstances, Outlook may or not be able to automatically repair the damage or the file mail corruption. If the automatic repair fails, then the user's responsibility to try to repair the file with the Inbox Repair Tool for external input that is installed by default by Microsoft Outlook.
The Inbox Repair Tool can be found at the following location: "C: Program FilesCommon FilesSystemMSMAPI1033. The repair tool is an executable program under the name Scanpst.exe. When you run the PST repair tool, make sure Microsoft Outlook is not running. A new window will prompt you to enter the name of the file you want to repair. Go to the location of the PST file hit and click the start button. If an error message, make sure Scanpst.exe is in the location of the above. If not, find and run CNFNOT32.EXE, to unpack and install the Scanpst.exe for default file location.
This file repair tool will scan and report errors found, then try to repair these errors. If the repair tool email archiving is unable to correct mistakes, then a third-party solution if necessary.
