As a buyer and a Hot Wheels collector of Hot Wheels Vintage (known as Redline, in collector circles) for more than 16 years, I have set my own way to determine the value of Hot Wheels Vintage.

It comes down to the Hot Wheels set into groups based on the popularity and rarity, and the use of a guide price or eBay to see what the current prices shows.

In this article I will give a broad view of what makes a valuable Redline Hot Wheels car.

Popularity

This may remember from high school days, but in much the same way that some people were simply popular and some not, Redline some are more popular than others, and there's no getting around it.

We can break the popularity into three main categories:

Category 1 – "Real" muscle cars and cars

Realistically, the reason most people pick foundry in general and Hot Wheels cars in particular is that they can live a fantasy of owning and managing a large amount of cool cars! When it comes to Redline Hot Wheels, is is a powerful draw to the cars that were actually produced by companies in the real car in the 60s.

Some collectors may have had the experience of actually being driven around a 67 Cougar or 57 Nomad and small cars are a pleasant memory is relived each time the collector looking to cars.

So, as you learn, the real cars tend to sell for more money, simply because people can relate to them in more one level.

Now, within this realm of real cars, not a more powerful attraction and is "muscle cars".

Any Anybody who knows about the history of the car realizes that the years 1965 to 1970 were the "good times" years for the American automobile industry – There was more innovation and excitement during those years than at any time before or after.

What caused all the excitement? The car muscle did!

A muscle car is basically a big engine in an intermediate or small car, which had the effect of moving the car very fast in a race!

Those were the years when he ruled the performance and fuel economy is a distant concern.

Well, those heady days of performance engines roar and screeching tires were instantly burned into the minds and hearts of impressionable children – children who were too still young to be driving, but that could easily be the sights, sounds and emotions through his Redline Hot Wheels, and provides backing track.

Well, memories are implanted in children, (now men), muscle cars, so the most popular type of Redline Hot Wheels and that popularity means they are the rock stars of the world Redline.

Some of the cars that fall into this category include:

Custom Camaro Custom Mustang Cougar Custom Custom Custom Custom Barracuda AMX Olds Dodge Charger 442

And do not forget the souped up versions of the drag race these cars, (called "spoilers") such as:

Heavy Chevy Boss Hoss Nitty Gritty Kitty Evil Weevil King Kuda

While the spoilers not to approach the value of the Muscle Cars, some people, when in the right color, you can sort, even more than the Muscle Cars!

There are other "real" cars are also popular, As staff of Volkswagen and the pump from the beach, but not within the realm of muscle cars. When it comes to these "real" cars, a collection typically may contain 10% to 15% of these cars.

Category 2 – Concept Cars

While the late '60s was a period intensive innovation in the market for automotive performance, was also a time to discover the world of customization.

Many unusual designs were conceived and created by the likes of George Barris, Tom Daniels, Harry Bradley and other customizers of the day.

These concept cars wildness sometimes show that once the cars and sometimes the real concept cars produced by the factory.

In either case seems, are interesting in the future, with bubble caps, moving parts, rockets and giant engines. It should be noted that some "real" cars fall into this category – usually these are European cars that did not have as much passion as muscle cars. Cars like the Mercedes SL 280 or the Maserati Mistral or the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow.

These represent the second level of popularity and value when it comes to Redline Hot Wheels.

Some of the cars in this category include:

Beatnik Bandit Silhouette Torero Turbofire Carabo Mercedes C-111

A typical collection consists of about 30% of these types of vehicles.

Category 3 – joint passenger

The common file is commonly called, since it seems that most of these were produced and – the height, also happen to have less demand because they are "ugly" or designs are designs race cars of the day. (which became something exciting at the time, but today not so much)

These cars are the most common of most collections and not carry anywhere near the value that the published price guide attributed, For the reasons above.

Cars that fall into this category includes both the concept and race cars such as:

Paddy Wagon Baron Jack Rabbit Special Indy Red Eagle F1 Repco Brabham Lotus turbine turbine Shelby Ford GT70 Mk IV Lola McLaren Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

Most collections comprise around 50% to 60% of these types of vehicles. So, as you can see, there is a hierarchy of values when it comes to values of Hot Wheels, mostly based on popularity and demand.

There are other determinants of value, of course, as the color of a particular car or rarity (prototype, FEP or the display of the tent) I refer in another article.
