The two hottest ebook readers on the market right now should be the Amazon Kindle 2 and the Sony Reader PRS-700. So it's time to bring the two into the ring and find out once and for all who is the champion of the electronic book reader. Let's see how they compare:
Round 1: Size
Do not believe the old saying that's not the size that matters, because in the case of the ebooks, size is everything. It is a difficult balance, but you want the reader to a screen big enough to read books well, but small enough so you can carry it with you. When it comes to the Sony Reader PRS-700 and the Amazon Kindle 2 is not much of a difference in physical size so in this round are much the same.
Winner: Equal
Round 2: Capacity Storage
In fact things, the Kindle 2 seems to have this round in the bag – which can accommodate up to 1,500 books with 2G internal memory, while the Sony Reader only has 245Mb. However, do not underestimate the Sony Reader, since it has the capacity to support up to 16G external memory (which can keep your library in a memory device instead of on your computer). However, I still prefer the Kindle when it comes to storage and which requires no additional memory sticks or devices to store their books.
Winner: Amazon Kindle 2
Round 3: File Formats Supported
Both electronic devices ebook support the usual suspects: TXT, MP3, JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP and each device has its own unique formats. But the format that most people have been waiting PDF support is full. The Sony Reader 700 has it, the Kindle 2, no. Now to be fair, you can get your PDF documents into a readable format for sending files to Amazon first, but it is clear that Sony has the advantage in this round.
Winner: Sony Reader PRS700
Final Round: Display
Both devices use the same E Ink technology that aims to produce a book of truth "as" experience of reading on screen. However, the Kindle 2 contains 16 shades of gray compared to 8 shades that Sony produces a text much clearer and crisp for reading and also displays images much better. It is most noticeable when reading newspapers or magazines on its electronic book reader.
