I write e-books for a living.
It is my bread and butter. Right now I'm in beautiful summer … in a country different from mine … courtesy of $ 49,613 only one of my electronic books generated in a period of three months.
But truth be known – I do not like to read the damn things on the computer. Well this I'm getting ahead of time. Do not like reading 'certain' e-books on your computer.
And once I give my views to readers, you'll see why most of library books e-books turned failure in digital format.
Okay, a couple of years ago I bought my Palm Pilot first. Device Neato little. And the biggest selling point – at least for me – was he could not bear all e-books
I wanted.
So I said, I could read everyone in the plane, or at night when I lay in bed, or online at the Department of Motor Vehicles. You catch my drift.
A funny thing happened though.
I jumped on the Palm website and download an electronic book that had been wanting to read. What joy to find that: # 1) I would save a couple of dollars by not purchasing the print copy. And 2) that could satisfy my mistake "immediate gratification" and begin reading immediately.
So that night I started reading the e-book on my Palm Pilot. I think I got to page 11 before it stopped. And then I never returned.
Now jump ahead in early 2006, when I bought my Palm Pilot second.
Once again I returned to the Palm e-trough of the library. I chose not one but three new titles.
"More recently, Palm Pilot better!" I said. "I'm actually reading the e-books now."
It is now August 2006 and have used my Palm Pilot as a replacement for the iPod, a telephone, a mini laptop, and as a convenient place to store my scribbles. But I have not read none of the e-books I downloaded. Not the first. And the last three.
With that said, why am I as an advocate open 'to' e-books.
As digital delivery really is a wonderful tool when combined with the data type.
In my opinion, fiction is not a party ideal for digital delivery. That's why Amazon's e-book section is tiny shadow printed book offerings.
If the fiction e-books products basic hot smokin ', Amazon would have been buried up to their eyebrows in them a loooong time ago.
But they are not. Their participation is limited. Things that make you go "Hmmmm."
Most non-fiction is not suitable for digital delivery either. For example, do you really want to read a biography from your laptop – for pleasure? Probably not.
The strategy of adapting content Truly The Technology
So you know what does not work. Holiday e-books – fiction and – are still a novelty at this time. Who knows if they ever catch as a pillar for book lovers.
But the $ 64,000 question is, what does not work?
Give buyers the information they really need now.
It's a simple concept.
Steve has a sinus infection that is making my head feel it is a ton anvil. Steve can not pay the rounds of antibiotics your doctor has recommended. (Steve live in the USA, so this is entirely understandable.)
So Steve goes online to search for alternative treatments. He is an electronic book which promises natural cures sinus infection. While Steve antibiotics can not afford $ 300, which can range $ 19.95 for the ebook.
Aha! This is where the immediate satisfaction of an e-book becomes important.
Our friend Steve has a clear and definite reason of "necessity" that information now. He is desperate to have a very uncomfortable problem solved. And do not mind staring at a screen to read it. The e-book format makes absolute sense here.
The moral of the story is this … if you want to earn real money selling eBooks online, choose the content that buyers are desperate. They must be hungry and angry by the information. Clearly in pain and outwards. Then put that content in e-book format. Stir with some targeted advertising, and watch the money to do a conga line in your bank account.
The key in the e-book marketing is to make technology work for you, not against you.
