Car GPS navigation systems are probably one of the most electronic gadgets come to the hot market in recent years! It is no wonder why! These compact cameras can do everything from tell you how to cross the country to let you know how to detour a traffic jam on the highway.
Prices have dropped considerably over the last 18 months. Now you can get a basic GPS system for about $ 150! If you want a more complete model, you can get that for $ 250 to $ 350 depending on model and exact specifications.
Not bad for a price never have to be lost!
The problem with buying a car GPS navigation system is that there so many manufacturers and many models to choose from. Unless you are a GPS enthusiast like me, you may be put off by all the new technologies to collect these things and all the buzzwords that you need to know to understand even what you buy.

Although there are tons of manufacturers of these things, there are only three major players, Garmin, Tom Tom and Magellan. Boy sells 70% of car GPS systems sold, Tom Tom is a really great product at great prices, and Magellan is a leading pioneer of the entire industry.
All three companies make excellent products at very competitive prices. You can certainly buy a GPS from people your choice. I just love to stay with the big companies. It is a personal decision. I want to make sure my camera will be supported in the future.

Higher up the price you get things like, bigger screens and routing capabilities. At higher prices each manufacturer starts to really stand out exclusive features – as a database of POIs Tom Tom where users can actually make changes to reflect the current state of the roads. (Tom Tom makes those changes available for everyone to see!)
What you should do is start browsing around an information website where you can read about specific models and to verify their prices.
